At a review meeting, MLA Rajkumar Badole said only 7 of the taluka's 70 water supply schemes are running and asked that closed ones be restarted at once.

The administration should start preparing now so that villages do not face a drinking water crisis before summer arrives. Arjuni Morgaon Assembly constituency MLA Er. Rajkumar Badole gave clear instructions that measures to end the water shortage be implemented effectively. He said officials of the departments concerned must take special care that people face no difficulty in getting drinking water.

A review meeting on the water shortage was held today, 6 November, in the hall of the Panchayat Samiti, Sadak Arjuni. Tehsildar Indrayani Gomase chaired the meeting, and MLA Rajkumar Badole was present as the chief guest.

The various water supply schemes of the taluka under the Rural Water Supply sub-division, Sadak Arjuni, were reviewed in detail. The meeting heard that of the taluka's 70 water supply schemes, only 7 are functioning. Most schemes are lying closed, which has raised questions about water supply planning. Taking this seriously, Badole told the officials concerned that the closed schemes should be restarted immediately.

Many villages of the taluka, along with remote hamlets and settlements, are feared to face water problems in the coming period. Badole stressed that instead of acting after the shortage begins, it is necessary to anticipate it and take preventive steps in advance. In villages where water problems are likely, the necessary measures should begin at once.

The meeting held an in-depth discussion on water supply schemes running under phases 1, 2 and 3 of water scarcity redressal. Officials concerned were asked about the present condition of the schemes, the reasons they have shut down, repair needs and future water supply planning.

Badole also said the planning should not remain on paper alone. The department concerned should take responsibility for keeping water supply running properly at village level. The gram sevak, the patwari and officials of the water supply department should coordinate with one another and assess the shortage village by village. So that no village in the taluka has to face a drinking water problem in the coming period, the administration should draw up a concrete action plan now and implement it strictly.

Present at the meeting were Panchayat Samiti Chairman Chetan Wadgaye, Deputy Chairperson Nisha Kashiwar, Zilla Parishad members Kavita Rangari and Nisha Todase, Block Development Officer Aditya Thakre, Assistant Block Development Officer T. M. Khotele, and Panchayat Samiti members Dr. Rukiram Wadhai, Shivaji Gahane and Allauddin Rajani. Also present were Rural Water Supply sub-divisional engineer T. M. Mankar, officials of various departments connected with the water supply schemes, gram sevaks and patwaris.
