Karanja-Manora MLA Sai Dahake told officials of both talukas to act swiftly on water supply and fodder; a similar review was held in Buldhana.
The administration in Karanja and Manora talukas must be ready to take immediate measures in view of drought-like conditions, Karanja-Manora MLA Sai Dahake directed at a review meeting of officials from both talukas.
The meeting was held on Monday at the hall of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee. Officials were asked about water supply, water scarcity and shortage of fodder for livestock under the current drought conditions.
Devavrat Dahake was present with MLA Sai Dahake. Sub-Divisional Officer Kailas Deore, Karanja Tehsildar Ravi Mahale, Manora Tehsildar Rajendra Patil, Block Development Officer Poonam Rane, Agriculture Officer Ashwini Bhosale and Deputy Commissioner of Animal Husbandry Dr Ravi Thakre also attended. Officials of various other departments took part as well.
The MLA told officials that ordinary citizens and farmers must get relief in times of distress. She asked the administration to work swiftly so that no village faces a shortage of water or fodder, and said clearly that no one should be negligent in this. She also instructed the officials present to resolve people's difficulties and stand firmly with them during the crisis.
Dahake took details from officials of the departments concerned on the measures being taken against drought. Village-wise water scarcity, tanker water supply, available water storage and the availability of fodder for animals were discussed. Officials were then directed to plan the necessary measures.
In Buldhana too, the administration's preparations to deal with a possible drought and water scarcity were reviewed. A special coordination meeting was held at Dhad on Wednesday, chaired by MLA Shweta Mahale. The review brought out gaps in planning by various departments and a lack of coordination among them, and MLA Mahale expressed strong displeasure to officials over this.
The meeting discussed drinking water planning, water supply to villages, availability of water sources, and fodder and water for livestock. The help to be given to farmers and ordinary citizens in the event of a possible drought also came up for discussion.
