Nagpur Police have taken major action in the Hudkeshwar murder case by invoking the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the accused gang. The case concerns the killing of an 18-year-old over a minor quarrel. According to police, 10 accused are in jail while two are absconding.
Police said the alleged gang leader is Yash Dilip Lode, against whom seven serious cases have been registered. These include murder, attempt to murder, theft, preparation for dacoity, assault, possession of illegal weapons and criminal intimidation. Police also clarified that 11 serious cases are registered against the gang as a whole.
Police said that on July 25, 2026, a quarrel broke out between Pawan Suryavanshi and the accused over a vehicle cutting in front of another. After the quarrel, the accused called Pawan and his 17-year-old friend Aman Ajay Kale to the Manewada crematorium for talks. It is alleged that both were attacked there with weapons.
Pawan was seriously injured in the attack. He was taken to hospital, but doctors declared him dead.
Police have so far arrested 10 accused. Yash Raju Gomase and Aman Dhanraj Chaurasia are still absconding. Police are conducting a search to catch them.
Police said preventive action had been taken against these accused earlier, but their criminal activities did not stop. A proposal to invoke MCOCA was therefore sent. After approval was received, the MCOCA provisions were added to the case.
The action was taken under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil, Joint Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy and Additional Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi. Assistant Commissioner of Police Narendra Hivare is conducting further investigation.
