Mass shramdaan held in villages across Chandrapur under Swachhata Hi Seva campaign
Citizens, elected representatives, officials and staff took part in a cleanliness drive in villages across Chandrapur district on October 1.
A mass shramdaan (voluntary labour) drive was held in villages across Chandrapur district on October 1, 2026. The programme was part of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign. Ordinary citizens, elected representatives, officials and staff all took part. The campaign runs from September 17 to October 2, 2026.
Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Pulkit Singh had earlier appealed to people to take part. He had said that people should join the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign actively and keep the public places in their villages clean. Hundreds of people in different villages of the district came forward to clean up in response to his appeal.
People turned out with brooms and cleaning equipment. Shramdaan was carried out on roads, around schools, at gram panchayat premises and at other public places. Garbage was collected from public places in the villages and the whole area was cleaned. In this way, many public places in several villages of the district looked clean and attractive within a single day.
Officials and staff also went out into the field alongside villagers and gave the message of cleanliness. The effort was meant to show that cleanliness should become part of everyday life. The message of collective participation, shramdaan and responsibility for cleanliness reached village after village.
Citizens' participation has been described as essential so that cleanliness does not remain a one-day effort and becomes a daily habit among villagers.
Pulkit Singh said the mass shramdaan was held with great enthusiasm in Chandrapur district with the cooperation of citizens. He said the participation people showed in cleaning public places in village after village was commendable. He appealed that all activities under the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign be carried out effectively in every village, and that everyone contribute to making villages clean, beautiful and garbage-free.
