Man kills wife and 3-year-old son with stone in Dhule's Ashtane village after family dispute

A shocking double murder has come to light in Ashtane village of Sakri taluka in Dhule district. A man allegedly bludgeoned his 28-year-old wife and their innocent three-year-old son to death with a stone after a dispute at home. The killings have shaken Sakri taluka and the whole of Dhule district.

According to the information available, Nagesh Thakre of Ashtane had been in dispute with members of his family for the past few days. On Friday the quarrel escalated, and Nagesh took an extreme step. He repeatedly and mercilessly struck his wife, Baichibai Thakre (28), and their three-year-old son, Rohit, with a heavy stone. The mother and son fell in a pool of blood and both died on the spot.

After killing his wife and his son, Nagesh Thakre tried to end his own life or injure himself. On receiving word of the incident, a team from Sakri police station reached the spot immediately. Police took charge of the two bodies and sent them for post-mortem.

The accused, who had injured himself, was rushed by police to the government hospital in Dhule, where he is undergoing treatment. A case has been registered against him.

Gloom has descended on Ashtane village. Relatives and villagers are expressing anger. Sakri police are looking into what exactly caused the family discord to escalate so far. Police have assured appropriate legal action against the accused, and further investigation is under way.
