A man killed his elder brother in Bamhani village of Nagbhid taluka on Saturday, October 24, at around 6 pm, after a domestic quarrel. The younger brother struck the elder on the head with a stick, and he died on the spot. The incident has shocked the entire village.
According to information from the police, the deceased is Nikesh Bandu Kumbhare, 33. The accused is his younger brother, Pramod Bandu Kumbhare, 28. After the incident, Pramod presented himself to the police.
Nikesh was unmarried and lived with his mother in Bamhani. Pramod, also unmarried, lived at his maternal uncle's house in the village. Nikesh quarrelled at home almost every day over one family matter or another.
On the day of the incident too, Nikesh had a heated quarrel with his mother. Fed up with her son's daily troubles, she ran to Pramod and asked him to go and talk sense into Nikesh. At her request, Pramod went to the house to counsel his brother.
Pramod reportedly spent a long time urging Nikesh to stay calm and stop quarrelling, but Nikesh was in no mood to listen and the quarrel continued. Pramod lost his patience and his anger went out of control.
In that rage, Pramod picked up a wooden stick lying nearby and struck Nikesh hard on the head. The blow caused bleeding, and Nikesh died on the spot.
When Pramod realised that his brother had died at his hands, he went straight to his maternal uncle and told him everything. The uncle then informed the police.
On receiving the information, Nagbhid police reached the spot in Bamhani immediately and drew up a panchnama. The body was sent for post-mortem. Police have begun an investigation. The accused, Pramod, has meanwhile gone to the police station and surrendered.
Deep grief has been expressed in Bamhani village and the surrounding area over the death of a man at the hands of his own brother in a domestic quarrel.
