Man dies after bat attack in Kopar Khairane; police add murder charge against accused

Ganesh Pandurang Parkar, 50, who was badly beaten after a minor quarrel in Kopar Khairane, Navi Mumbai, died during treatment on Wednesday. He had been admitted to New Era Hospital in Vashi. The incident has caused alarm in the Kopar Khairane area.
According to police, the incident took place around 4.15 pm on October 4. Parkar was near Chikneshwar Garden in Sector 3 of Kopar Khairane when four suspected accused began arguing with him over some minor matter. The four have been named as Savkar Savle (50), Balu Savle (45), Suraj Godse (28) and Vinay Malvankar (25).
The argument escalated into a physical fight. Savkar Savle is alleged to have struck Parkar on the head with a bat, causing a skull fracture. The other accused are alleged to have kicked and punched him repeatedly.
Parkar's relatives rushed him in a critical condition to Line Hospital in Kopar Khairane. He was then admitted to Echelon Hospital. When his condition worsened, he was shifted to New Era Hospital in Vashi for further treatment, where he died.
A case had already been registered at Kopar Khairane police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on the complaint of Parkar's sister, Sunita Pandurang Parkar (48). After his death, police have added the section for murder.
Police have intensified the search for the remaining accused who are absconding. Amol Deshmukh, senior police inspector at Kopar Khairane police station, said, "The matter has been taken seriously and police teams have been sent out to catch the remaining accused. All the accused will be arrested soon." Police are investigating the case further.
The allegations against the accused are under investigation.
