Man arrested for stabbing wife in stomach after she went to play garba in Powai

Garba raas events were held at many places in Mumbai during Navratri. Not just the young, but older people too enjoyed playing garba over the nine days. But an incident in Powai has left the whole area shaken.

A man, angry that his wife had gone to play garba, allegedly stabbed her in the stomach. The wife has been seriously injured in the attack. Police have arrested the accused husband.

According to information provided by the police, the injured woman is Vaishali Mahesh Rajat, 30. The accused husband is Mahesh Subhash Rajat, 35. Police arrested him immediately.

The incident took place at Mahatma Phule Nagar in the IIT area of Powai, near Samata Mitra Mandal, opposite KD Hospital. Vaishali had gone to this mandal to play garba. It is said that her going to play garba was not to her husband's liking. Angered by this, Mahesh attacked her with a knife. Mahesh is accused of stabbing Vaishali in the stomach in an attempt to kill her.

On Vaishali's complaint, a case has been registered at Parksite police station under Sections 109(1) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused husband has been arrested and further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, a stabbing has also taken place in the Maurya Enclave area of New Delhi. Police have detained four minor boys in the case. The weapon used in the attack has also been seized.

On Tuesday, Maurya Enclave police station received information that a man had been stabbed near Chaudhary Dairies in QU Block, Pitampura. Police reached the spot and admitted the injured to BSA Hospital. There, doctors declared a man named Arun dead. Another man, named Ashu, was also injured in the stabbing.

According to the preliminary investigation, the quarrel is suspected to have arisen from a dispute involving a young woman. It has emerged that after the dispute, the accused attacked both men with a dagger. Police are investigating the case further.
