Man, 55, arrested in Ramtek for sexually abusing two nine-year-old girls

Police in Ramtek taluka of Nagpur district have arrested a 55-year-old man, Jaidev Tukaram Wasnik, on charges of sexually abusing two minor girls. Both girls are nine years old. It is alleged that they were lured with a chocolate and Rs 10 each. The alleged incident has caused alarm in the area.

According to information from the police, the two girls had gone to a village shop to buy chocolate during their lunch break. The complaint alleges that the accused lured them with the promise of chocolate, took them to the side of the shop and sexually abused both.

The complaint also states that the accused gave each girl Rs 10 and told them not to tell anyone at home what had happened.

In the evening, when the girls' mother returned home, the girls told the family everything. The family members then questioned the man. According to the information, the accused initially said he had given the girls chocolate and money and sent them back.

Meanwhile, the second girl also described what had happened to her, and the whole matter came out. The families of both girls then went to Ramtek police station and filed a complaint.

Given the seriousness of the matter, Ramtek police registered a case against the accused under Sections 64(2), 64(2)(i), 64(2)(m) and 65(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, have also been invoked.

Two independent cases have been registered on the separate complaints of the two girls, and the accused has been arrested. Ramtek police are conducting further investigation.

There is anger in the area over the alleged incident involving the two young girls. The question of children's safety has once again come to the fore, and people hope the case will be investigated thoroughly and the girls will get justice.
