A workshop on project work and practical training, organised in line with the National Education Policy 2020, was held on 5 October 2026 at Shikshanmaharshi Bapuji Salunkhe Mahavidyalaya in Karad, run by Shri Swami Vivekanand Shikshan Sanstha, Kolhapur. The programme was held under the chairmanship of the college principal, Prof. Dr Satish Ghatge.

The main resource person was Prof. Dr A. K. Patil. He said that under the National Education Policy 2020, project work and practical training help students understand the realities of the environment, society and different fields of work. In his view, both are essential for improving students' employable skills.

Prof. Patil said students cannot fully learn what is happening in the environment and society around them by sitting in a classroom alone. Real project work is what brings the reality home. Problems of the environment cannot be understood without going there, and the pain and difficulties of society cannot be known without working directly in it. He therefore said students must choose a problem from their curriculum and do project work on it.

On practical training, he said it gives students work experience in different fields. Students visit the industrial sector, banks, credit societies, brick kilns and many other trades and workplaces to understand how they function. According to him, the training helps considerably in building the skills needed for future employment.

In his presidential address, Principal Prof. Dr Satish Ghatge said the National Education Policy 2020 is a policy that brings a revolution to education. He said the curriculum under the policy has been designed so that students become self-reliant while facing the challenges of today. He also said students should pay serious attention to every aspect of the curriculum and adopt it.

The introductory remarks were given by Prof. Suresh Kakade, head of the examination department. Dr Maruti Suryavanshi introduced the chief guests. Prof. Vishwanath Sutar proposed the vote of thanks and Prof. Jyoti Dharmadhikari compered the programme. IQAC coordinator Prof. Ratnakar Koli and all the college's Gurudev Karyakarte were also present. Most of the BA Part 3 and BCom Part 3 students attended the workshop.
