Comedian Kapil Sharma is in the news for the Dubai outlet of his Caps Cafe. Expanding the brand, he has opened a new outlet in Dubai. Its decor and special menu are being discussed, but the prices of food and drink may come as a shock. A cup of masala chai costs Rs 550 and panipuri Rs 800.
Kapil opened the first Caps Cafe outlet in Canada in July last year. The new outlet then opened in Dubai's Al Kifaf area on December 31, 2025. Comedian Bharti Singh visited the cafe recently, after which several things, from the decor to the menu and prices, became a talking point.
Items easily available in India, such as tea, panipuri and dosa, cost a considerable sum at the Dubai cafe. Some of the menu prices are: masala chai Rs 550, desi panipuri Rs 800, dosa Rs 775, aloo paratha Rs 700 and sev puri Rs 905. Bombay sandwich and avocado toast are priced at Rs 1,034, dal makhani at Rs 1,035, French toast at Rs 1,300 and penne pasta at Rs 1,604.
The cheapest item on the menu is reported to be espresso, at Rs 490, while penne pasta is said to be the most expensive. Mexican bowl, butter chicken and pancakes are also on offer.
The decor of Caps Cafe is said to be inspired by Parisian pastry shops. Light pink, white and ivory colours, white marble and fine gold detailing give the cafe an attractive look, which also makes it a popular spot for photographs and social media posts. Both Indian and international food is served. Prices of dishes familiar to Indians are higher than elsewhere, which is why the menu is being discussed.
The Caps Cafe brand had earlier made headlines over incidents of shooting at its Canada outlet. According to available reports, a shooting incident took place after the cafe opened. Another attack followed in August, and in October firing from a moving vehicle broke the glass at the front of the cafe. Some reports linked the incidents to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, but these claims have not been independently confirmed. No injuries were reported in the incidents.
In November, during promotion of "Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2", Kapil was asked about the incidents. He responded positively about the response the cafe was getting. Kapil had said, "After every shooting incident, the cafe has got a better response than before. So if God is with me, everything is fine."
Kapil Sharma is currently entertaining audiences on Netflix with "The Great Indian Kapil Show". While his show is being discussed on one hand, the expensive menu of his Dubai cafe has drawn everyone's attention on the other.
