The Burj Khalifa in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the world's tallest building, was lit up in red to mark China's National Day. A spectacular light show was staged on the tower on the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The 828-metre skyscraper was decked out in a grand display of red lights. Thousands of local residents and international tourists gathered to watch the show.

The video light show was organised by China Media Group (CMG). It is the first time in the history of global media that an official visual light show of China Media Group has been screened on the world's most prestigious and tallest building. The illumination lit up Dubai's night skyline in a distinctive red glow and drew the attention of media and tourists around the world.

The main highlight of the show was the cutting-edge technology used in it. China Media Group used artificial intelligence-generated content (AIGC) technology to create it. Balancing light and shadow, the show traced a journey from China's ancient culture to modern progress on the surface of the Burj Khalifa.

During the show, scenes of the Temple of Heaven and the Great Wall, regarded as historical and cultural symbols of China, and of the grand skyscrapers of modern China were displayed. The visuals offered the world a glimpse of China's rich tradition and of technological advances in its economic centres.

The Chinese national flag and red lighting appeared on the Burj Khalifa in alternation. Everyone present was mesmerised by the sight. The display became an important way of showing the strengthening diplomatic, economic and cultural ties between the UAE and China.

The Chinese Embassy in the UAE also posted on its official X account on October 2, 2026 that the Burj Khalifa in the UAE was lit up with the red flag with five stars to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Chinese nationals living in Dubai and tourists from around the world enjoyed the show. They filmed the moments on their mobiles and shared them widely on social media. The show, which blends modern technology and cultural values, is being seen as the start of a new chapter for digital media worldwide.
