Kalyan's traffic arrangements have been changed for Navratri, which begins on 11 October, with Dussehra on 20 October. The restrictions will remain in force from 11 to 20 October, and the administration has asked people to keep them in mind.

Traffic police have taken precautionary steps in view of the congestion usually feared in Kalyan around Dussehra. Large crowds of devotees are expected at the Durgamata temple in Kalyan West and around the historic Durgadi Fort. For this reason, heavy, multi-axle and other large vehicles, along with private and government buses, are barred from seven major routes between 4 pm and midnight every day from 11 to 20 October.

Pankaj Shirsat, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Thane City Traffic, issued the notification on 5 October. Police vehicles, fire brigade units, ambulances and vehicles on other essential services are exempt. The administration has sought public cooperation so that people face no trouble during the festival days.

At Kalyan Naka, heavy vehicles entering the city from Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Mahape Pipeline and, via Patripul, from Mumbra will be stopped. They will be diverted through the Mumbra bypass and Kharegaon toll naka onto the Mumbai-Nashik highway.

At Kalyan Khoni Nisarg Dhaba, vehicles coming towards Kalyan by the Taloja bypass will be stopped. They can proceed via Badlapur-Ambernath, Katai-Badlapur Chowk and Lodha Palava Phata.

At Neval Naka, heavy vehicles coming from Malang Road towards Chakkinaka-Patripul will not be allowed. They will reach their destinations by the Badlapur-Ambernath highway. At Shriram Chowk, vehicles heading to the Kolsewadi area are barred and must use the Ulhasnagar, Shahad, Ambernath route.

At Adharwadi Chowk, vehicles heading towards Shahad, Prem Auto, Durgamata Chowk, Kongaon and Bhiwandi will not be allowed. The alternative route is Adharwadi Chowk, Gandhari Bridge, Bapgaon and Sonale.

At Ranjanoli Naka, vehicles coming to Kalyan via Kongaon are barred, and this traffic will be diverted from the Kharegaon toll naka on the Mumbai-Nashik highway. At Sawad Naka, vehicles coming from the Thane rural area via Bapgaon towards Gandhari Bridge will be stopped and sent onward via Sawad Naka and Sonale.
