Mini India has begun pre-launch bookings in India for the Mini Cooper Oxford Edition. The limited edition is built on the Cooper S 3-door and makes distinctive use of a Union Jack, the British flag, theme.
The company has not yet announced the car's official price or delivery date. Bookings are open, but buyers will have to wait for the price.
The Oxford Edition has a contrasting white roof with large Union Jack graphics. The bonnet and boot carry stripes in the same theme. The tailgate has British flag decals, and the car gets special wheel hub caps and Union Jack valve caps. It will be available in two colours, Indigo Sunset Blue and Chilli Red, both with white mirror caps. It also gets 18-inch Slide Spoke alloy wheels and customisable LED DRLs.
The car has a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 204hp of power and 300Nm of torque. Power reaches the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The car accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 6.6 seconds, and the company claims a mileage of 16.82kmpl.
The cabin has JCW sports seats, black upholstery, a beige-grey knitted dashboard and silver accents. Other features include a 240mm circular OLED touchscreen, a head-up display, a Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic glass roof and a heated steering wheel.
Safety features include ADAS, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, driver attention monitoring, ABS, traction control and dynamic stability control. For parking, the car has front and rear sensors, a reversing camera and a parking assistant.
The Oxford Edition is named after the city of Oxford in Britain, where production of the original Mini began in 1959. The limited edition carries forward Mini's British heritage in a modern and distinctive style.
