Reliance Jio has unveiled its next-generation AI wearables at IMC 2026, drawing considerable attention in the technology world. On the occasion, the company introduced smart AI buds along with an entirely new category of smart glasses.

The smart glasses are not limited to everyday tasks such as recording video, playing music or taking calls. According to the company, they also carry several advanced features meant for the future.

The biggest highlight is that users will not need to touch their phone. A UPI payment can be made simply by looking. For this, the glasses use "visual intelligence". Jio and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) have jointly finalised this UPI payment system.

The glasses understand what the user is looking at. Based on this, they provide real-time information and can also scan a QR code and complete the entire payment process directly.

Jio has introduced two main models of the smart glasses. The first is an audio-based model with a stainless-steel frame, which looks just like ordinary spectacles. The second is a visual intelligence model fitted with a speaker and a built-in camera. The camera identifies objects in front of the user's eyes and offers real-time AI assistance.

Both models also come with features such as live translation, support for several Indian languages and an advanced AI voice assistant.

One point on safety remains unclear. Jio has not yet released technical details on authentication and transaction limits. Even so, the product is being seen as a revolutionary step for the Indian market.

On price and availability, Jio has not yet disclosed the official price, battery life or full specifications of the glasses. According to the company, they could be officially launched in the Indian market by the end of this year, that is, in November or December 2026. The exact price will be revealed only at the time of launch.
