A special edition SUV from Jeep India is drawing attention in the automobile world. The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Whitecap Edition has sold out before its official launch in India. The company said all 25 units allotted for India have been sold.

The SUV has an ex-showroom price of Rs 73.55 lakh. The company expects deliveries to begin at the end of October.

The biggest highlight of the special edition is its green and white look. The vehicle is offered in Mojito Green, with a Bright White hardtop roof and a 7-slot front grille. It carries special graphics on the body, '1941' decals on the sides and a white '4 Wheel Drive' graphic at the rear. These set its look apart from the regular Wrangler.

The design draws inspiration from an older Jeep model. The Whitecap Edition recalls the white-roofed design of the original Jeep CJ-Universal. The special edition has been made to celebrate 85 years of Jeep's history. Only 250 units of the edition are being made worldwide, of which 25 were allotted to India.

On the engine, the SUV gets the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine as the regular Rubicon. The engine produces 270 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque, and is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

With Jeep's 4-wheel-drive system, the Rock-Trac system and a 4:1 low-range transfer case, the SUV is ready for strong performance on tough off-road terrain. It gets electronic locking differentials at the front and rear, along with off-road features such as an electronic front stabiliser-bar disconnect.

Features include a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The front seats also get 12-way electric adjustment.

The company has indicated that bringing more units could be considered after the response the edition has received in India. Jeep enthusiasts are now watching to see whether the limited edition will come to India again.
