Actor Janhavi Killekar has drawn praise on social media for cancelling her birthday party and donating the money to help a child fighting spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
Killekar and her friend, actor Om Yadav, together gave Rs 1,11,111 for the treatment of little Gargi, who is battling SMA. Killekar shared the information in a social media post. She wrote, "A small help of Rs 1,11,111 for little Gargi, handed over to Gargi by cancelling the birthday party."
She also celebrated her birthday with 100 orphaned children at Sindhutai Sapkal's ashram, and shared a video of the celebration on social media.

She said the smiles on the children's faces and the joy in their eyes were the most beautiful and most precious gift for her. She also quoted the line "Ek aansu ponchne ke liye hi sahi, janm kaam aaya" (even if only to wipe one tear, this birth has served a purpose), and said the initiative gave her a rare sense of peace.
In her post, Killekar also wrote that the Rs 10 crore needed for Gargi's treatment is well on its way to being raised. She thanked everyone in Maharashtra who has helped.
