Illegal liquor sales have caused an uproar in Pachgaon village in Rajura taluka, after the death of a young man was linked to the trade. The incident has caused alarm in the village, with residents demanding immediate action from the administration. The situation is being attributed to a deteriorating social environment and rising addiction in the village.

According to a memorandum submitted over the matter, some individuals in the village have been illegally selling liquor, directly affecting the village's social environment. The memorandum expressed particular concern that addiction is rising among the younger generation, affecting their health, family life and overall future, and noted that many households have been devastated by such illegal liquor sales.

On September 20, 2026, Kailas Santosh Todetiwar, a 21-year-old resident of Pachgaon, died by suicide after consuming poison while intoxicated. Taking serious note of the incident, Tirupati Indurbar, chairman of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, met the district superintendent of police directly and submitted a memorandum.

In his memorandum, Indurbar requested the superintendent of police to promptly issue appropriate instructions to the concerned police officers and the State Excise Department. He also demanded permanent measures to prevent such illegal liquor sales in future. A copy of the memorandum was also given to the superintendent of the State Excise Department, Chandrapur, with a demand for the necessary legal action.

In connection with the case, Member of Parliament Pratibhatai Dhanorkar also met the district superintendent of police and demanded strict action against those responsible. She also directed the superintendent of police to increase regular police patrolling and take effective preventive measures to stop the sale, storage and transport of illegal liquor.

Present on the occasion, besides MP Pratibhatai Dhanorkar, were Youth Congress district president Shantanu Dhote, women's district president Adv. Kundatai Jenekar, Rajura Congress taluka president Ranjan Lande, city president Harjeet Singh Sandhu, corporator Ejaz Ahmed, Nagar Panchayat chairperson Poonam Girsawale, Annutai Sandhu, corporator Indubai Nikode, Mangala Mokde, Purnima Soyam, Sumitrabai Kuchankar, Sanghpal Dethe and Kunal Mokale, along with several other Rajura Congress office-bearers and workers.
