Illegal liquor sale accused attacks policeman, injures finger badly
A man accused in an illegal liquor sale case allegedly beat a police constable with a plastic pipe in Savner, injuring his finger.
A shocking incident has come to light within the limits of Savner police station in a case of illegal liquor sale. A police complaint states that a constable who had gone to search for the accused and serve him a notice was assaulted by the accused. According to the complaint, the accused allegedly abused the constable and attacked him with a large plastic pipe. The constable suffered a serious injury to a finger on his left hand in the incident.
According to information received, a case was registered at Savner police station on September 15, 2026, as Crime No. 933/26 under Sections 65(E) and 83 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. Joy Paranjpe was named as the accused in this case, marking the first time his name appeared in police records in this original liquor sale case.
During questioning, Joy Paranjpe allegedly told police that the liquor business actually belonged to Aman Dhanole. Following this statement, action was taken against both Joy Paranjpe and the absconding accused Aman Dhanole under the relevant sections of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, making Dhanole an accused in the same case as well.
As part of further investigation in the case, police constable number 1939 had gone to Aman Dhanole's house to serve him a notice. According to the complaint, while the constable was speaking to the accused about the notice regarding the case registered at the station, Dhanole allegedly began abusing him, which led to the dispute that followed.
It is alleged that Aman Dhanole then began beating the constable with a large plastic pipe. During this, the accused's grandmother reportedly tried to intervene and asked him to stop hitting the constable. It has been said that in the ensuing scuffle, a blow from the plastic pipe also struck the grandmother's hand, meaning the assault affected both the constable and the elderly member of the household.
The constable suffered a serious injury to a finger on his left hand in the assault. Senior officers at Savner police station were immediately informed of the incident, following which police registered a separate case based on the complaint and began investigating.
Savner police have registered a case under Sections 132, 221, 269 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 over the assault on the constable and obstruction of a public servant on duty.
Police are further investigating the case, including the role of accused Aman Dhanole and other matters connected to the incident.
