Honda will hold the global debut of the Honda Alpha Electric SUV in India on December 2, 2026, but has not announced its price, battery, range or features.
Honda is set to launch its first electric model in India's electric SUV market. The new vehicle is called the Honda Alpha Electric SUV, and the company has announced the date of its global unveiling. The SUV will make its global debut in India on December 2, 2026.
It will be Honda's first India-made electric SUV. The company plans to make India a global production hub for it. Honda has made clear that the Honda Alpha will be produced in India, and that India will also be the first market where it goes on sale. Customers are keen to know the price, battery pack, motor, driving range and features.
On design, the Honda Alpha will be based on the Honda 0 Alpha Concept, which the company showed at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2025. However, no official photograph or full design of the production-ready SUV has emerged yet. Test models spotted during testing suggest it may get a tall, boxy rear profile, square wheel arches and alloy wheels with an aerodynamic design. The concept had a distinct front lighting signature and an illuminated Honda logo. It is not yet clear how many of these design elements will survive in the production model.
An early look at the interior has come from spy shots taken during testing. These suggest the SUV may get a large central touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster and a three-spoke steering wheel. Physical buttons have also been seen on the centre console. Some reports have suggested connected car technology and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features. Honda has so far not released an official list of the infotainment system, connectivity options and safety features.
The company has also given no official information on the battery and range. Battery capacity, motor power, torque, charging time and certified driving range have not been disclosed. According to some reports, it may get an LFP battery pack of 65kWh to 75kWh, with a single motor and front-wheel-drive configuration. But these figures are not official. DC fast-charging capability and the time taken to charge from 10 to 80 per cent have also not emerged. These technical details are expected to be revealed at the global debut.
The Honda Alpha is likely to enter the mid-size electric SUV segment. There, it could compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and Tata Sierra EV.
The biggest question is the price. Honda has not announced the ex-showroom price. Which variants will be offered, and how their features and battery packs will differ, is also not known. The retail launch date has not been fixed either. The December 2, 2026 unveiling may bring some clarity on price, variants, motor power, battery pack, driving range, charging time and features. How much to budget for a Honda Alpha will be known only after the company's official announcement.
