Hero MotoCorp, the world's largest manufacturer of two-wheelers and scooters, has launched two new motorcycles in the market. With the all-new Xtreme 160R 4V and the refreshed Xtreme 250R, the company is accelerating the expansion of its premium range. According to the company, the launch is an important step towards strengthening its premium portfolio. The two motorcycles bring together a more aggressive streetfighter style, strong performance and advanced rider-focused technology across two major segments.

At the launch, Anuj Dua, Chief Business Officer, Premium Segment, Hero MotoCorp, said, "The expansion of the premium category holds the biggest growth potential in our journey ahead. With distinct product identity and a better riding experience, we are steadily strengthening our position in this segment. The Xtreme family is a key pillar of this strategy." He also said that through a strong network of more than 130 Hero Premia stores, these products demonstrate the company's commitment to making them world-class and living up to customers' expectations.

The Xtreme 160R 4V was first introduced in 2023 and has since been an important part of the company's premium motorcycle line-up. The company says the new model is its biggest change so far. It has an entirely new design that retains the core identity of the Xtreme family, the best performance in its segment and several new technologies. The sporty naked bike comes with a younger, more muscular and aggressive look. It has been given a commanding road presence like that of a bigger bike and is meant for riders who expect thrill, a distinct identity and technology from their bike.

The design has sharper tank shrouds and redesigned bodywork. The fuel tank strengthens the knee grip and also makes it easy to put a foot on the ground. The lighting includes an auto-illuminating Class D full-LED headlamp with an ambient light sensor, a projector high beam and a signature "H"-shaped DRL. It also has an "H"-shaped LED tail lamp and full-LED winkers. The front wheel rims come in red and black.

The Xtreme 160R 4V is powered by Hero MotoCorp's 163 cc, 4-valve, oil-cooled engine. It delivers a maximum power of 17.1 PS at 8,750 rpm and a peak torque of 14.6 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Thanks to the short-stroke design, the engine revs quickly, while a finned oil cooler keeps temperatures balanced even on long rides. According to the company, it is the quickest motorcycle in its segment, reaching 0 to 60 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. It is also described as delivering the most power to the rear wheel in the segment. No oil change or tappet setting is needed for up to 6,000 km.

Ride-by-wire, or electronic throttle control, keeps throttle response precise and smooth, and there are three ride modes. Rain mode gives a softer throttle response for slippery roads, Road mode offers balanced power for everyday commuting, and Sport mode gives a direct and aggressive response. The Xtreme 160R 4V is the first motorcycle in its segment to offer cruise control.

For safety, it has dual-channel ABS, along with 276 mm front and 220 mm rear petal disc brakes. It also has a panic brake alert that warns surrounding vehicles on sudden hard braking, offered for the first time in this segment. The suspension has 37 mm KYB upside-down forks at the front and a 7-step preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. A wide 130/70 R17 radial tubeless tyre is fitted at the rear.

The refreshed Xtreme 250R has ride-by-wire, four ride modes, traction control, a quickshifter, segment-first cruise control and a tyre pressure monitoring system. It also gets a frequency selective damping suspension, described as a first in the automobile sector.
