GWCET Nagpur holds two-day cyber security and social media awareness boot camp
Students from second, third and final year engineering branches took part in the two-day program held on September 21 and 22, 2026.
Govindrao Wanjari College of Engineering and Technology (GWCET), Nagpur, held a two-day Cyber Security and Social Media Awareness Boot Camp on September 21 and 22, 2026. The aim was to make students aware of cyber security, responsible use of social media, online safety and emerging digital threats.
The program was organised by the college in association with Cyphernet Eduverse Private Limited. The sessions were conducted by experienced cyber security professionals and expert faculty members. The program was designed to give students practical knowledge of the rapidly changing cyber landscape and to help them understand the importance of behaving responsibly in the digital world. The boot camp ran for two days, with three-hour sessions each day, and saw enthusiastic participation from students across different engineering branches in their second, third and final years.
The sessions covered important aspects of cyber security and social media awareness, with an emphasis on practical understanding and real-life situations. Students were told about online safety, cyber threats, safe digital practices, social media security, protection of personal information and the responsible use of digital platforms.
GWCET Principal Dr Saleem Chavan praised the successful conduct of the boot camp and the enthusiastic participation of students. He said that such industry-oriented programs are essential for raising awareness, developing practical skills and preparing students for the challenges of the digital world. He congratulated all the students, experts, faculty members and the training and placement team for successfully completing the program.
The program was coordinated by Dr Anil Tijare, Dean of Training and Placement at GWCET, with full support from heads of departments, departmental training and placement coordinators and faculty members.
He expressed gratitude to Dr Suhasini Wanjari, President of Amar Seva Mandal; Advocate Abhijit Wanjari, Secretary of Amar Seva Mandal and MLC for the Nagpur Division Graduates Constituency; Dr Smita A. Wanjari, Senate Member of RTMNU and Treasurer of Amar Seva Mandal, Nagpur; and Principal Dr Saleem A. Chavan, for their continued support, encouragement and guidance in promoting such industry-oriented initiatives. He also thanked the vice-principal, heads of departments, faculty coordinators and support teams for their contribution.
The successful conduct of the Cyber Security and Social Media Awareness Boot Camp shows that GWCET remains committed to giving students industry-linked knowledge, practical exposure and employability-oriented skills beyond the regular academic curriculum. With cyber security now an essential part of every professional and personal digital environment, such programs play an important role in shaping students into responsible, informed and digitally aware professionals.
