Nagpur man pulls knife on mother in dispute over money for liquor
A 42-year-old man threatened to kill his mother and pulled a knife on her in Nagpur before a co-worker intervened and disarmed him
A man attacked his elderly mother with a knife after a dispute over money for liquor in the Tahsil police station area of Nagpur.
Sixty-six-year-old Leela Bai Taklikar runs a Shivbhojan Thali centre in Jagnath Budhwari. On the morning of September 21, she was at the centre when her 42-year-old son, Sachin Taklikar, arrived.
Sachin used to constantly harass his mother for money for liquor and would insult her over her not getting him married. He would often quarrel with her.
As usual, Sachin began abusing Leela Bai and threatening to kill her. During the altercation, he pulled out a knife and attempted to attack her.
Lalita Nimje, a woman working at the Shivbhojan centre, showed courage and intervened, snatching the knife from Sachin's hand. Lalita's quick action saved Leela Bai's life.
Tahsil police have registered a case of attempt to commit culpable homicide and arrested Sachin Taklikar. He has seven cases registered against him, including one of murder. He was released from jail only last year in connection with a murder case.
