The under-14 girls' team of Bharatratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Zilla Parishad Adarsh Vidyalaya in Birsola won the district title at the district-level kho-kho tournament organised by the Gondia District Sports Officer. According to a report dated October 17, 2026, the win has qualified the team for the divisional tournament to be held in Nagpur on November 2, 2026.
The tournament was held at the sports complex in Gondia. Teams from different talukas took part. The Birsola girls beat the other teams on the strength of determination, perseverance, agility, team spirit and fine playing skill, and took the district title.
The school is a zilla parishad school for Classes 1 to 8. Last year, too, these students had won the district title in the kho-kho competition of the Atal Krida Mahotsav. By winning this year's tournament organised by the District Sports Officer, they have carried that record of success forward.
It is a matter of pride for Birsola village, the school and the whole of Gondia district that girls from a village zilla parishad school have reached the divisional level. The win shows that students in rural areas can also do well in sport if they get proper guidance, regular practice and encouragement.
The winning team included Anshika Bahe, Arya Bahe, Harshita Pache, Surabhi Pache, Radha Bahe, Arushi Nagphase, Sweta Khare, Sanchi Dandare, Saumya Bahe, Aditi Dandare, Dimple Dandare and Divyani Pache. All of them performed excellently.
The guidance, cooperation and encouragement of the school's teachers were important behind this success. Sawalram Bisen, Chandu Durge, D. C. Rahangdale, Pradeep Rangari, Nilkanth Khobragade, Ritu Nagphase, T. N. Shaikh, Ranjana Sirsat, Sheetal Rathod, Sindhu Jamre and Vijay Nagphase cheered the girls on and encouraged their sporting talents.
The success came through the girls' hard work, the teachers' guidance and the support of the school family. The Birsola school students will now represent Gondia district at the divisional tournament in Nagpur. It is hoped that they will perform well there too and bring further honour to the school and the district.
The players, the guiding teachers and the school family are being congratulated widely for the success, and all the students are being given heartfelt good wishes for the divisional tournament.
