The Rajarshi Shahu Shetkari Samvichari Aghadi, led by Satej Patil, has won a majority in the election of the Kolhapur District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union, known as Gokul. The result is a setback for the Mahayuti. Political activity in Kolhapur's cooperative sector has picked up after it.

According to available information, the Samvichari alliance won 16 seats, while the Mahayuti had to settle for nine. The Gokul milk union election is considered a matter of prestige in Kolhapur politics, and this time the contest was close. There was a direct fight between Satej Patil's alliance and the Mahayuti.

After the results, supporters celebrated at the Ajinkyatara office. Satej Patil's group will now play an important role in the future running of the Gokul milk union.

The defeat of experienced leaders has drawn the most discussion in this election. According to available reports, Navid Mushrif, son of Minister Hasan Mushrif, as well as Arun Dongle and Vishwas Patil, were defeated. The defeat of leaders who had played an important role in Gokul politics has added to the talk about the result. The Samvichari alliance's success is drawing attention even though the Mahayuti had political strength, experienced leadership and an effective organisation.

Satej Patil is now being called a "giant killer". The election was not limited to the management of the milk union. It was also being seen as a fight for political influence and dominance in the cooperative sector in Kolhapur. For this reason, the win of the alliance led by Satej Patil is being given special importance. The victory, won by challenging politically strong opponents, is likely to give fresh strength to his leadership in the cooperative sector.

During the campaign, there were allegations and counter-allegations over emotional appeals, references to religious faith and attempts to influence voters. But the final result has made clear which side the voters decided in favour of.

The Gokul milk union is an important part of Kolhapur's rural economy. The institution's functioning matters greatly for milk-producing farmers, the milk collection system and the union's financial dealings. Attention will now be on what decisions the new ruling group takes in the interest of milk producers.

The majority won by the alliance could prove decisive in the milk union's decision-making in the coming days. The Mahayuti, on the other hand, will have to examine the reasons for this defeat. On the whole, the Gokul election result is not limited to the milk union. It is being regarded as a test of leadership, organisational strength and influence in the cooperative sector in Kolhapur politics.
