The scope of global capability centres in India is no longer limited to IT and technology. Multinational companies are using these centres to handle key functions such as finance, marketing, human resources, business analytics and supply chain management.

Global capability centres are centres where multinational companies run various functions linked to their international business. They also strengthen business strategy, innovation and decision-making. As their presence in India grows, demand has risen for people who combine business understanding with skills in data analysis, communication and team management.

According to the 2026 NASSCOM-Zinnov India GCC Landscape Report, India has 2,117 GCCs. About 23.6 lakh professionals work in them. The sector generates about $98.4 billion in revenue.

The spread of GCCs has opened several career paths for MBA professionals. Finance offers openings in budgeting, financial planning and risk management. Human resources covers talent acquisition, employee development and management of global teams. In marketing and customer experience, roles in market research, analysis of customer behaviour and international marketing operations are becoming increasingly important.

In EY's GCC Plus survey of November 2025, 79 per cent of the centres surveyed reported finance work, 65 per cent human resources, 54 per cent supply chain management and 31 per cent marketing. The figures show that these functions are present, not their share of total jobs.

Reasons for the rising demand for MBAs have also been listed. According to the report, GCCs are moving towards product development and global ownership at scale. Global leadership roles in India's centres are expected to rise from 6,500 to more than 30,000 by 2030.

Companies are increasingly looking for talent such as forward-deployed engineers (FDEs) and hybrid managers. They combine business sense with technical or product fluency and drive AI and digital transformation.

The finance and operations wings of GCCs have moved beyond routine accounting. They are leading enterprise-wide transformation, risk management and compliance across 500+ regulatory mandates. Hiring now leans towards mid-career professionals, those with 4 to 10 years of experience, who have both domain expertise and sharp management understanding.

Jobs are available in several areas. Finance and accounting involve budgeting, financial planning, managing risk and complying with financial rules. Human resources involve recruiting and training staff, employee satisfaction and managing teams working across countries. Marketing and customer experience involve market studies, understanding customer preferences, brand-related work and international marketing activities.

Business analytics includes analysing data, helping business decisions and finding ways to improve company performance. Operations and supply chain management cover procurement, logistics, supply arrangements, improving work processes and coordination with vendors.
