Nagpur's senior citizens received a special gift from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on the occasion of Ganeshotsav. He provided another state-of-the-art e-bus for the service and pilgrimage trips of the city's senior citizens. The bus was handed over to the Senior Citizen Pratishthan at a special event held at Gadkari Wada in the Mahal area.

MLA Rajiv Potdar, Ashok Leyland Managing Director Shenu Agarwal, Vice President Yashpal Sachar, Bhandara plant head Rajendra Chandrashekhar, T. Umeshwar Rao, Raunak Srivastava and Pritesh Chandak were present on the occasion. Besides them, several other dignitaries also took part in the event, including the Pratishthan's secretary Dr. Raju Mishra, treasurer Ashok Mankar, and trustees Prabhakar Yewale, Sunil Agarwal, Avinash Ghushe and Sonali Ghodmare.

Speaking at the event, Nitin Gadkari said the entire arrangement was meant simply to bring happiness into the lives of the elderly, look after their health and connect them with social activities. He said the Senior Citizen Pratishthan has continuously organised health camps, cultural programmes and religious pilgrimages for the elderly, so that they get the opportunity to live an active and dignified life in society.

The new electric bus has been provided under the 'Switch Mobility' brand through Ashok Leyland's corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund. The bus can seat 45 passengers at a time and can travel up to 340 kilometres on a single full charge. Given the long-distance religious journeys, the bus has also been fitted with air conditioning and comfortable pushback seats.

With the addition of this new bus, the Senior Citizen Pratishthan's fleet now has a total of five e-buses. Through the Pratishthan's free bus service, around 4 lakh elderly people from Nagpur district have travelled to various religious and tourist places over the past seven years without any charge. With the new bus now in service, more senior citizens are expected to get safe and comfortable travel facilities in the time ahead.
