Gadchiroli: Bus overturns after steering jams, 7 hurt seriously, 31 minor injuries

A bus travelling from Gadchiroli to Chamorshi overturned near Shivani village after its steering jammed, injuring 38 passengers.

A major accident was averted in Gadchiroli on Friday afternoon when a bus full of passengers suddenly overturned. The bus, which had left Gadchiroli bus stand for Chamorshi, had its steering jam near a new bridge close to Shivani village, causing it to go out of control and overturn.

A total of 38 passengers were injured in the accident. Of these, 7 passengers suffered serious injuries, while the remaining 31 suffered minor injuries. No one died in the accident.

The bus, numbered MH-06-8848, was operating on the Gadchiroli depot's Chamorshi route. As soon as news of the accident spread, 10 ambulances and four police vehicles reached the spot immediately. All the injured were admitted to the district general hospital, where they are being treated.

Gadchiroli police have registered a case over the accident. Additional Superintendent of Police Gokulraj and Assistant Superintendent of Police Aniket Hirde visited both the accident site and the district hospital to check on the injured. The investigation is being supervised by Police Inspector Vinod Chavan.

Guardian Minister Advocate Ashish Jaiswal spoke to District Civil Surgeon Dr Ravi Gawande to inquire about the condition of the injured passengers. He directed that the injured receive proper treatment and that their health be monitored continuously.

Earlier, a similar accident had occurred at Supe Ghat in Baramati taluka on Wednesday the 16th, when an ST bus carrying schoolchildren met with an accident. The bus, carrying students of Vidya Pratishthan English Medium School, lost control and overturned at the first bend of the ghat. About 60 to 70 students were travelling in the bus. Four students were injured in the accident and were immediately admitted to Vishwaraj Hospital in Loni Kalbhor.
