Suicide cases continue to rise across the state and the country, with people taking extreme steps for various reasons every day. A heartbreaking incident has now been reported from Ghumawal village in Chopda taluka of Jalgaon district. A 12-year-old boy studying in sixth class died by suicide at his home after insisting on joining the Ganpati immersion procession. His father had not given him permission to go, which angered the boy. The incident has left the entire area stunned, with people nearby expressing deep grief.

According to information received, the boy, who belonged to a family in Ghumawal, wanted to join the Ganpati immersion procession, as other children in the area do every year. However, his parents did not allow him to go. This angered the boy badly, and he could not contain his anger. According to initial information, in this fit of anger he went to the upper floor of the house and hanged himself. As soon as the family learnt of the incident, they rushed him to hospital to try to save his life, but doctors examined him there and declared him dead.

The family told police after the incident that the boy used to constantly watch reels on his mobile phone. However, the real reason behind this step is not yet clear and police are investigating. An accidental death case numbered 48/2026 has been registered at Chopda Rural police station. Police are now probing the incident and trying to find out what was going on in the boy's mind.
