Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the BJP was ready to take to the streets if needed, as the party held its "Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao" padyatra in Nagpur.

The BJP is now holding a padyatra across the country titled "Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao" to respond to the Opposition. As part of it, the padyatra was held in Nagpur today.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was also present. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched a strong attack on the Opposition and stated his position clearly.

Mr Fadnavis said the padyatra stood for saving democracy and removing anarchy, and that the fight was for the country's Constitution. He said plainly that the conspiracy under way was not good.

Saying the party was ready to take to the streets and fight if the need arose, he said: "If you are a thousand, we will come in lakhs."

The Opposition says it wants a regime change. According to Mr Fadnavis, the Opposition's aim behind this change of power is to bring a Left system to the country. He also alleged that they want to create a situation in India like that in Bangladesh and Nepal.

The Chief Minister alleged that these people hold the Constitution in their hands on one side and do work against it on the other.

Mr Fadnavis said that in 1975 an attempt was made to alter the country's Constitution, whereas the Constitution had granted fundamental rights. He also said it was the Congress that tampered with the Constitution.

Addressing Rahul Gandhi, Mr Fadnavis said he would tell him that he was trying to do what his grandmother could not.

Mr Fadnavis said the people on whose backing they used to get elected, referring to Bangladeshis, would no longer vote from now on, and that was why they felt nauseous. He also said the party would not allow a single Bangladeshi national to stay here.
