Members can send 'Hi' to an EPFO WhatsApp number to see their balance, last five transactions and passbook, Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya's launch announced.
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has started a WhatsApp service for its members. Provident fund account holders will no longer have to log in to the website repeatedly to check how much money is in their account or to get details of transactions.
Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched the new service on Sunday. Members can use it to get key account information easily. To use it, they only have to send 'Hi' on WhatsApp.
EPFO announced the service in a post on the social media platform X, dated November 1, 2026. The post said members can check their available balance, get details of the last five transactions and download their passbook.
The WhatsApp number for the facility is 8796441800. Users can talk to a chatbot on this number and choose the service they want. The EPFO post also said the service can be started by scanning a QR code or by saying Hi to +91 8796441800.
To check the PF balance, first save the number 8796441800 on your mobile phone. Then open WhatsApp, start a chat with the number and send 'Hi'. Complete the verification the chatbot asks for. The WhatsApp number must be linked to the UAN. Then pick PF Balance, Last 5 Transactions or Passbook Download from the options shown.
Those who wish to use the QR code can scan the one shared by EPFO, which opens the relevant WhatsApp chat. 'Hi' has to be sent there. Users can then choose a language as instructed and complete the process. The chatbot offers options including PF balance, last five transactions, passbook download and a change of language.
The facility could make it easier for PF members to get balance and transaction details. Members who use digital services, in particular, will get all the necessary information on their mobile phones.
Users are also advised not to share an OTP, UAN password or confidential bank account details with anyone on WhatsApp. Before using the service, they should confirm the number and the facility on EPFO's official website or social media account, and save the number only after that.
