Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have reportedly agreed a trade of four players ahead of the IPL 2027 mini auction in December.
The mini auction for IPL 2027 is due in December, and before it all teams must release their lists of retained players. Meanwhile, a deal has reportedly been finalised between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad for a trade of four players. It involves Indian and overseas players, all of whom have played international matches.
Under the deal, CSK have handed Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis to SRH. In return, Chennai have taken Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards into their squad. England's Livingstone and Edwards had earlier played for SRH and have now moved to Chennai, while Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis will get a chance to play for SRH.
On the financials, Chennai traded Indian fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 4.8 crore. Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis was traded for Rs 2 crore. In exchange, CSK signed England's spin-bowling all-rounder Liam Livingstone for Rs 6 crore. Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards was signed for Rs 3 crore.
Neither Livingstone nor Edwards got many opportunities for Sunrisers Hyderabad during IPL 2026. With Livingstone's arrival, SRH may now release Australia's Matthew Short. A decision to drop Jack Fowlkes could also follow, as Jack Edwards has joined the franchise.
Here is a look at the players' IPL records. Fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed took two wickets in five matches for CSK last season. In IPL 2025, he had taken 15 wickets in 14 matches. Nathan Ellis did not play last season. For CSK he played only one match, in which he took 1 wicket for 38 runs.
Liam Livingstone got only two chances to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad, scoring 15 runs in two matches. Jack Edwards has not yet had a chance to play in the IPL, so he has to prove himself. At CSK, Edwards will be a reserve player for Jamie Overton.
