Congress and the Maha Vikas Aghadi held a workers' convention at Mahakalkar Sabhagriha ahead of the Nagpur division graduates' constituency election. The convention was organised to campaign for Abhijit Govindrao Vanjari, the official candidate of the Congress and the Maha Vikas Aghadi. Congress state in-charge Sirivella Prasad addressed the workers at the convention.

Prasad said Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar had laid the foundation of a social revolution from the soil of Nagpur. According to him, the Constitution has given equal rights and justice to every citizen of the country, but challenges are now being raised before the Constitution and democracy. He said the Constitution has delivered justice to the deprived, exploited and weaker sections.

Prasad said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh had made no contribution to the freedom struggle. He therefore appealed that the ideology of the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh be defeated to protect the Constitution, democracy and social justice.

Former Congress state president Nana Patole said the Congress has an important role in upholding the country's democratic system and the rights granted by the Constitution. According to Patole, the graduates' constituency election is not merely about choosing one candidate but about the questions and representation of educated voters. He said every office-bearer and worker should therefore reach out to voters and work for Vanjari's victory.

Former minister Sunil Kedar appealed to Maha Vikas Aghadi workers to work in coordination in the election. Kedar said an experienced public representative like Vanjari is needed to raise the graduates' problems and the voice of their rights effectively in the Legislative Council. He said every worker should contact graduate voters in their area and present the role of the Congress and the Maha Vikas Aghadi to them.

Candidate Abhijit Vanjari pledged to raise graduates' problems effectively in the Legislative Council. He said getting job opportunities for educated youth, finding a solution to unemployment and securing continued resolution of the varied problems of teachers, employees and graduates would be his priorities. Vanjari said he would keep trying to live up to the trust of graduate voters.

Former minister Sunil Kedar, Nana Patole, MP Shyamkumar Barve, MLAs Vikas Thakre and Sanjay Meshram, candidate Abhijit Vanjari, city president Praful Gudadhe, Sanjay Mahakalkar, Ashwin Bais, Atul Londhe, Suresh Bhoyar, Gev Awari and Kunda Raut were present on the stage. Other leaders also spoke. Office-bearers, former public representatives, corporators, workers and Maha Vikas Aghadi supporters attended the convention in large numbers.
