A Class 10 student drowned in a dam in Sakri town of Dhule district after going swimming with friends once his school's half-yearly examination was over. The student has been identified as Krishna Nishant Chalse. He studied in Class 10 at a school in Sakri. The sudden tragedy has plunged the whole town and his family into mourning.

According to the information available, the term examination, the half-yearly exam, was under way at the school in Sakri on Tuesday. Krishna's paper ended in the afternoon. He did not go straight home. At around 3 pm, he went with a few friends to swim at the "Nakatya Bandhara", a bandhara on the Kan river in Sakri.

The friends entered the water cheerfully. Within moments, however, Krishna lost his sense of the water's depth. He went into deep water and began to sink. Seeing him drowning, his friends immediately started shouting and screaming.

Hearing the children's cries, some local youths and other people nearby rushed to help. They pulled Krishna out of the water with all their strength and took him at once to the Sakri Rural Hospital for treatment. On arrival, the doctors there examined him and declared him dead.

Everyone in Sakri is in shock at the sudden death of a promising young student. Krishna, who had left with his friends after the examination, could not return home. His family has been struck by grief, and the people of the town are shaken by the incident.
