Children who recovered after heart operations visited MLA Kishor Jorgewar's residence with their parents; about 300 children have been operated on through his initiative.
Many families in Chandrapur have a happier Diwali this year because their young children's heart operations were successful. The children, now recovered, visited the residence of MLA Kishor Jorgewar with their parents. They sat together, shared Diwali snacks and celebrated the festival. Kalyani Kishor Jorgewar was also present.
A few days ago, the parents of these children were consumed by worry over their illness and surgery. Today the same parents are watching their children laugh, play and celebrate Diwali. The children and their parents met Jorgewar and wished him a happy Diwali. Jorgewar welcomed everyone warmly and offered the children his heartfelt good wishes. The children's innocent laughter and the contentment on the parents' faces made the mood at the residence emotional and joyful.
According to information from the MLA's office, around 300 children have so far undergone heart operations through Jorgewar's initiative. The operations were carried out at private hospitals in Mumbai. The children range in age from one day old to 17 years.
Heart surgery is expensive, and because of their financial circumstances many parents are unable to get proper treatment for their children. To support such families, Jorgewar holds various health camps. The children are examined at these camps, and arrangements are made for further treatment of those found eligible for heart surgery.
The responsibility does not end with arranging the operation. Jorgewar also arranges travel to and from Mumbai for the children and their parents, and their stay during treatment. This has given major relief to many families that were on the verge of going without treatment for lack of money.
Speaking of his feelings, Jorgewar said he was very happy to see the innocent laughter on the children's faces and the contentment on their parents' faces today, when only a few days ago the parents were restless with worry about the operations. According to him, there is no greater satisfaction than easing a family's suffering and filling its life with joy. He said that the children getting a chance to live anew and a smile returning to their parents' faces was the greatest reward for him. He also said the Diwali wishes the children gave him, and the happiness on their faces, were a priceless gift.
