At an event in Chandrapur's Priyadarshini Indira Gandhi Cultural Hall marking 12 years of the Mann Ki Baat programme, MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar, the chief guest, announced a large youth conclave in Chandrapur.
According to Mungantiwar, the conclave will be held in the New Chandrapur area from January 9 to 12, 2027. About 25,000 young people will gather on January 12. He said the aim is for the youth to show their merit in literature, industry, agriculture and research, and to raise Chandrapur's profile nationally. He also urged young people to use mobile phones not for addiction but to gain knowledge and skills.
A special book with a QR code covering the 138 episodes of Mann Ki Baat, which began on Vijayadashami, October 3, 2014, was released at the event. He said the inspiration drawn from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat did not remain mere thought for him but became the energy to do something substantial for the all-round development of Chandrapur district. He added that the true message of the programme is to draw inspiration from the extraordinary work of ordinary people in every corner of the country, turn it into action for society's good and contribute to building a developed India.
Saying that when an ordinary person sets an example before society through their work, many are inspired, Mungantiwar said this thinking helped the district take up a Sainik school, a forest academy, a botanical garden, modernisation of anganwadis, smart study centres, libraries, a state-of-the-art cancer hospital, water conservation works and a Krishi Vigyan Kendra. He said development does not mean only buildings but enriching people's lives through education, health, employment and social progress.
Saying society needs stronger mutual respect, understanding and humanity, he praised the work of Gita translator Fatima Behen. He said that whatever the religion, it is the values of human welfare and respect for one another that bind society. He also mentioned women's education, skill development centres for girl students, modern medical facilities and new experiments in farming. He said the "Krishi Haat" and "food court" concept is being implemented so that farmers' organic produce gets a direct market.
At the end of the event, farmers of the Ballarpur assembly constituency were felicitated. Of 13 state-level awards announced by the Maharashtra government, as many as seven were won by farmers of Pombhurna taluka, and Mungantiwar congratulated them. Of the 15 talukas in Chandrapur district, three, Ballarpur, Jiwati and Brahmapuri, were initially not on the drought-affected list. So that farmers would not face injustice, Mungantiwar followed up with the Chief Minister and all 15 talukas were included in the list. Farmers thanked him with a felicitation for this.
Padma Shri Dr Parshuram Khune, MLAs Devrao Bhongle and Karan Devtale, Mayor Sangeeta Khandekar, Sapna Mungantiwar, district sanghchalak Tushar Devpujari, senior BJP leader Chandansingh Chandel, district president Harish Sharma, former MLAs Atul Deshkar and Vasudev Gadegone, Fatima Behen, Pandurang Ambatkar and Kisanlal Chadda, among others, were present. BJP office-bearers, workers, farmers, members of the Gayatri Parivar, women and students also attended in large numbers.
