The Jharsuguda passenger yard, in the Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway, is to be remodelled. The railway has scheduled several days of infrastructure work for it, which will directly affect trains passing through Nagpur. A total of 32 trains running via Nagpur will be affected.

The work will be carried out in three phases. First, pre-non-interlocking work will run for 18 days, from November 27 to December 14. A 10-hour non-interlocking work will follow on December 15. Finally, two days of post-NI interlocking work are proposed on December 16 and 17, for which a mega block will be taken.

Because of this work, the running of many trains will change. Some trains will be cancelled fully, some partially, some will be diverted and some rescheduled. The cancelled trains include the 18109/18110 Tatanagar-Itwari-Tatanagar Express.

The work at Jharsuguda will also affect several major trains passing through the Nagpur division of Central Railway. These trains will remain cancelled on the fixed dates. Thousands of passengers are bound to face difficulty, and with long-distance trains affected, their travel plans could be disrupted.

Diwali, the biggest festival of the year, also falls in this period. With so many trains cancelled during the festival, lakhs of passengers will face inconvenience. Passengers will therefore have to plan ahead.

The railway has released a date-wise list of the affected trains, so passengers can see clearly which train will be affected on which day. Passengers are advised to check the running status and schedule of their train before setting out, so that they are not stranded at the station at the last minute.
