Chandrapur: MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar has demanded that land for government hostels be made available at the earliest. He has submitted a letter to Chandrapur District Collector Vasumana Pant in this regard.
According to the letter, a hostel for 100 girls is proposed at Mul and one for 200 students at Bhivkund in Ballarpur tehsil. Land of 3.21 acres has been sought for the Mul hostel and 0.11 acre for the Bhivkund hostel.
The letter states that the aim is to provide lodging and meals to children from economically weak and backward-class families who live away from home to study.
Mungantiwar, a former state finance minister and MLA, has taken this step to ease the worries of these students about lodging, food and studies. He has urged the collector to immediately transfer 3.21 acres of government land for the girls' hostel at Mul and 0.11 acre for the students' hostel at Bhivkund.
Every student on the path of education has dreams of a good future. With this thinking, Mungantiwar has made it a priority that no deserving student's education is stopped because of circumstances or the lack of a roof over their head.
For students who leave home to study, getting a place to stay, food and a quiet environment to study removes a major obstacle to their education. The proposed government hostels will not only provide the necessary facilities to needy students but also bring great relief to parents who worry about a safe place and food for their children.
It is now hoped that the district administration will take the demand seriously and complete the process of allotting the land quickly, so that economic or social circumstances do not come in the way of students' education.
