Police have registered a case against more than 26 people, including the owner, manager and caretaker of a farm, over an alleged obscene dance at an event held at Green Farm in Champa Shivar, under the Pachgaon police station limits in Nagpur Rural. The accused reportedly include four women. The investigation is under way.

According to police, the event was held at Green Farm on October 8 and 9. Police received confidential information that women and men were dancing to music making allegedly obscene gestures. Police then verified the movements at the spot and examined CCTV footage from both days. Police claim that the footage showed some women and men dancing while making objectionable gestures.

Police examined the CCTV footage to find out what exactly took place at the event and what role the persons concerned played. Action was taken against them on the basis of the available evidence and the findings of the investigation.

Those booked include the farm's owner Ramlu Kondya Sultan (70), manager Arif Anwar Khan (40) and caretaker Arif Suleman Shaikh (42). Other persons have also been booked along with them. The accused are linked to various places, including Gadchiroli, Balaghat, Akola, Bhadravati, Wardha, Nagpur, Kamthi, Gondia and Chandrapur.

Police seized goods worth Rs 64,100 during the action. Detailed information about the seized items is not available.

The case has reportedly been registered under the law that prohibits obscene dance in establishments in Maharashtra. The action was taken on the orders of Nagpur Rural Superintendent of Police Harsh Poddar, it was said.

The booking of so many people has set off discussion in the area. Police are investigating how the event was organised, what responsibility the persons concerned bore and whether anyone else was involved.

The allegations against the accused have not yet been proved. The facts of the case will become clear only after further investigation and court proceedings.
