A case of fraud has come to light in Khed taluka of Ratnagiri district. It is alleged that a social worker was made to pay Rs 5,000 by a man posing as the personal assistant (PA) of Yogesh Kadam, the state's Minister of State for Home. A case has been registered against Raviraj Chikhale at Khed police station, and police are investigating further.

According to police, the complaint was filed by Vidyadhar Dattaram Salunkhe, 56. He is a resident of Borgaon-Salunkhewadi in Chiplun taluka and currently lives in Mumbai.

Salunkhe was trying to bring the issue of alleged unauthorised laterite stone quarries operating in Chiplun taluka to the notice of Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam. He says the quarries are causing the government a revenue loss of crores of rupees. It is alleged that during this time Chikhale described himself as the minister's personal assistant. He is also alleged to have promised to arrange a meeting with the minister and to get the work done.

According to the complaint, Chikhale took Rs 5,000 in cash from Salunkhe in Khed on September 17, 2026. Salunkhe claims that after he paid the money, neither was a meeting with the minister arranged nor was the promised work done. When he felt he had been cheated, he approached the police and filed a complaint. The case was registered against the person concerned on the basis of this complaint.

Crime number 342/2026 was registered at Khed police station on October 18, 2026, at 7.29 pm. The case has been registered under Sections 318(2), 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The alleged incident of taking money by posing as the minister's PA has become a talking point in the Khed area. Police are investigating what actually happened.

Meanwhile, people should be careful when paying money to unknown persons who promise to arrange a meeting with a minister or to get government work done. It is essential to confirm the person's identity and official position before any transaction.
