A shocking accident occurred in the Parsik Hill area of Belapur in Navi Mumbai on Thursday afternoon, when a car fell from the hill straight onto the railway track below. The incident took place between 3 pm and 3.30 pm. A young man in the car was seriously injured and was rushed to hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.

According to information received, the car fell from Parsik Hill directly onto the railway line connecting Panvel and Uran. The car was badly damaged after falling from a great height onto the track. Notably, no local train was passing on that track at the time of the accident, which averted a bigger tragedy. The route is regularly used by local train services, and it is being said that had a local train arrived at that moment, the situation could have been far more serious.

The accident affected both up and down rail traffic on the Panvel-Uran route, which has been temporarily suspended. Railway authorities are inspecting whether the railway track and the overhead electric wiring, known as the OHE system, were damaged when the car fell onto the track. As a safety precaution, trains on this route have been halted. It has been stated that if damage is found to the overhead wire, electric poles or any other railway equipment, repairs will be needed, which could delay the resumption of normal rail traffic.

On receiving information about the accident, railway authorities, local police and emergency services rushed to the spot. Work has begun to move the car off the track and clear the railway line. The track and electrical equipment are being closely inspected. Meanwhile, the young man trapped in the car was pulled out and admitted to hospital. Railway officials and police are investigating what exactly caused the accident and whether anyone else was in the car with him.
