A 13-year-old from Long Island who scored 1590 out of 1600 in the SAT at age 10 has been admitted to a postgraduate course at New York University
People are stunned by the pace of learning of 13-year-old Joe Petraro-Hyppolite, who lives in Long Island in the United States. At an age when most children are in secondary school, Joe has already begun preparing for a masters degree. He has been admitted to a postgraduate course at New York University and will begin it in 2027.
What sets Joe apart is that at just 10 years old, he scored 1590 out of 1600 in the SAT, one of the most important entrance exams in the United States, coming extremely close to a perfect score.
Joe's mother, Anne Petraro-Hyppolite, says her son's journey has truly been extraordinary. Interestingly, Joe was earlier placed in a special education class, but today he is far ahead of children his age. Along with his studies, Joe also volunteers at an old age home in Long Island. He wants to become a paleontologist. If his postgraduate studies are completed as planned, he will hold a masters degree at around the age when most teenagers get their driving license.
After graduation, Joe will join a postgraduate course in sports management at New York University. His studies also include physiology and biology. Joe's name will certainly stand out among students who complete a masters degree at such a young age.
Speaking about his abilities, Joe said his IQ is 168. However, he made clear that things do not come easily to him. He said he needs to learn something once or twice, after which he remembers it. He completed his secondary school education at just 11 years old. He then began higher education at Louisiana State University and is currently completing his graduation, which he expects to finish in May 2027.
