Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule inaugurated the School of Scholars' new archery ground and then visited Asian Games gold-winning archer Kumkum Mohod at her home to honour her.

Sports facilities in Amravati district have increased. Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule today inaugurated the newly built archery ground of the School of Scholars in the Nimbhora Khurd area. He then visited Asian Games gold medallist archer Kumkum Mohod at her home and honoured her.

At the inauguration, the school's trained student archers shot at targets in the presence of Guardian Minister Bawankule. The ground was then formally opened with a ribbon-cutting. MP Dr Anil Bonde and MLAs Pratap Adsad, Pravin Tayde and Rajesh Wankhade were present. Sachin Agnihotri, secretary of the Agnihotri Group of Institutions, and the school's headmaster, N. Santosh Kumar, also attended. Santosh Kumar gave the welcome address, while Sachin Agnihotri made the introductory remarks.

Bawankule said that along with archers such as Kumkum Mohod and Yashdeep Bhoge, Bharti Fulmali of the Indian women's cricket team had also delivered high-class performances at the Asian Games. This, he said, had earned Amravati recognition across the world. He said the archery ground at the School of Scholars would also produce players who would make the district proud at the international level.

According to the Guardian Minister, good sports facilities at the school level open up paths to advancement in the field. He said world-class players would be groomed by training on this ground. The recent success of Amravati's players in archery at the Asian Games proves this, he said. He also said that with the best sports facilities and the players' continued hard work, international players would keep emerging from the district.

At the same event, Sanjay Bhoge, father of international archer Yashdeep Bhoge, was also felicitated by Bawankule. Yashdeep is a former student of the school. His coach Ganesh Vishwakarma was also present at the felicitation.

After the inauguration, the Guardian Minister went to Kumkum Mohod's home in Gosavi Colony in the Sai Nagar area. Kumkum won the gold medal at the Asian Games held in Japan and is known as an international-level archer. Bawankule visited her home and honoured her. MP Dr Anil Bonde and MLAs Pratap Adsad, Pravin Tayde and Rajesh Wankhade were with him. Kumkum's father Anil Mohod, mother Rupali Mohod and other family members were also present.

Bawankule spoke with Kumkum at ease. He asked about her journey in archery and enquired about her successes at the Asian Games and other international competitions. He expressed hope that Kumkum would win success at the Olympics too and bring honour to the country. He wished her well for the journey ahead.
