Bajaj Auto has launched the new Bajaj Pulsar N250SS motorcycle. With the Pulsar brand completing 25 years in the Indian two-wheeler market, the company has given the bike several important updates. Its features include a four-valve engine, a six-speed gearbox, a 5-inch TFT instrument console, Google Maps mirroring and an electronic throttle body. The bike could be an attractive option for customers who want modern technology and a sporty riding experience.

The ex-showroom price of the bike in Delhi is Rs 1,59,406. It is based on the existing Pulsar N250, but the engine and technology have been improved. The gearbox, TFT display and electronic throttle set it apart from the older model. Buyers have also been advised to check the on-road price, insurance and other charges with an authorised dealer in their city before buying.

The Pulsar N250SS has a four-valve engine that produces a maximum power of 25 PS and a peak torque of 22 Nm. The earlier Pulsar N250 produced 24.5 PS of power and 21.5 Nm of torque. The engine now comes with a six-speed gearbox, while the older model had a five-speed transmission. The extra gear gives riders more choice while shifting. Road test information will be important, however, before any final conclusion can be drawn on real-world highway performance and mileage.

Another major change is the electronic throttle body (ETB). It allows the throttle to be controlled electronically and can support riding modes. The bike has rider-assistance features, including ABS modes. This technology can help change the riding experience according to varying road conditions. The exact riding mode options and how they work need to be checked against the official specifications.

The most eye-catching change is the 5-inch TFT instrument console, which replaces the LCD display of the older model. With Google Maps mirroring, navigation information can be shown on the console, which can help riders follow a route while travelling. A sports shifter is also provided, so the clutch may not be needed when upshifting.

There are also some convenience and safety features. These include adjustable levers, a USB Type C charging port, a hazard switch and a panic brake alert. A feature such as the panic brake alert can help warn drivers behind if the brakes are applied suddenly.

With an ex-showroom price of over Rs 1.59 lakh, buyers should compare comfort, real-world mileage, servicing costs and the on-road price in their city, along with the features. On the whole, the new Pulsar N250SS comes with more modern features and an updated transmission. Detailed road test information will be important to understand its actual performance and riding experience.
