Union Home Minister Amit Shah told the first meeting of the newly formed Uttar Pradesh BJP state executive that Narendra Modi will become Prime Minister for a fourth time after the 2029 Lok Sabha election.
Union Home Minister and former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah has announced that Narendra Modi will become the country's Prime Minister for a fourth time after the 2029 Lok Sabha election. Shah was speaking in Lucknow at the first meeting of the newly constituted Uttar Pradesh BJP state executive committee.
Several senior leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, attended the meeting. Sending a message to the country from Lucknow, Shah said Modi would not go anywhere and would continue to lead the government.
Appealing to party workers, Shah said, "Modi has become Prime Minister for the third time, and if you keep working with the same perseverance, he will become Prime Minister a fourth time, and no one will be able to stop us from forming a government in Uttar Pradesh with a huge majority."
Shah asked leaders and workers to set aside all differences and grievances and give their all in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh election.
Shah said the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh is as firm as the foot of Angad and no one can shake it. He also claimed the BJP government would remain in power in the state for the next 30 years. He credited the voters, whom he likened to gods. He added that if voters gave the party another chance to form the government, it would implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttar Pradesh.
Shah praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's style of working, saying Adityanath has freed Uttar Pradesh from the mafia and corruption. He said Uttar Pradesh had become the country's investment hub and cited figures: according to him, investment of more than Rs 50 lakh crore has come into the state, and projects worth Rs 15 lakh crore have been put on the ground.
Shah said many major changes had taken place in Uttar Pradesh in the past 10 years. He said incidents of dacoity had fallen by 74 per cent, robbery by 80 per cent, rioting by 70 per cent and extortion by 60 per cent. He also said Adityanath had improved law and order and brought in investment, which created jobs and stopped migration.
Speculation is under way over who will succeed Modi as the BJP's prime ministerial face.
