Former India leg-spinner Amit Mishra has spoken openly about how his international career ended. Cricket fans saw his career stop abruptly in 2017. In an interview, he has now made allegations against India star batter Virat Kohli and former head coach Anil Kumble.

Mishra was speaking on former cricketer Aakash Chopra's podcast "Baith Aur Bol". The remarks have caused a stir in the cricket world. In a post about the episode, Chopra quoted Mishra as saying "Virat Kohli did not fulfill his promise". The episode was to be released at 6 pm on October 23, 2026, on YouTube, Facebook and Spotify.

On the podcast, Mishra made an emotional and significant disclosure about the end of his international career. The match against England in Bengaluru turned out to be his last, and his career came to a halt after that. He spoke about Kohli and Kumble in this connection.

Mishra said he injured his leg during that match in Bengaluru. Kumble was India's head coach when he came off the field injured.

According to Mishra, Kumble reassured him when they spoke. "Don't worry. As soon as you are fully fit, you will return to the team," Kumble had said.

Kohli later became the team's captain. Mishra said he asked Kohli too what he should do next, and Kohli gave the same assurance. Mishra said Kohli told him: "Don't worry. Just get fully fit, then you will return to the team."

After receiving such positive and comforting words from both stalwarts, Mishra said he worked hard for a comeback. But even after recovering fully from the injury, he did not get another chance in the Indian team. This, he says, brought his international career to a sudden and disappointing end.

Mishra has recently been appointed spin bowling coach at Delhi Capitals. He has alleged bias in selection to the team. It remains to be seen whether Kumble and Kohli will respond.
