As the Navratri festival begins, an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm spreads everywhere. For nine days, different forms of the goddess are worshipped. Besides women, many men also keep fasts on these days.
What to eat for breakfast on fasting days is often a question. Eating oily food or sabudana khichdi every day is more likely to worsen digestive problems. On fasting days, very light food that is easy to digest should be eaten.
During a nine-day fast, the body's energy is likely to dip. For this reason, one should take foods that are easily digested and give the body energy. One such quick dish is the amaranth (rajgira) smoothie. Made this way, the smoothie also tastes very good. Here is how to make it.
The ingredients are amaranth, cashew nuts, almonds, cardamom powder, milk, saffron strands, figs, dates and a banana.
To make the smoothie, first heat a pan and roast the amaranth in it on a low flame. The gas should not be kept too high while roasting the amaranth. Take the roasted amaranth out on a plate. In the same pan, roast the cashew nuts and almonds on a low flame too.
Let all the roasted ingredients cool, put them in a mixer jar and grind them coarsely. Add the dates, pieces of fig and a banana to this and prepare the mixture.
Once the paste is ready, add milk as required and grind it fine once more. This is how a healthy and tasty amaranth smoothie is made easily. After drinking the smoothie, one stays full and does not feel hungry soon.
