The India quota of 125 units of the limited edition motorcycle was exhausted in less than six minutes, and deliveries will begin in November.
The Classic 650 125th Anniversary Edition from Royal Enfield has set a new sales record in the Indian market. All 125 bikes earmarked for India were sold in less than six minutes.
The special motorcycle has been built to celebrate 125 years of Royal Enfield's journey. The company will begin delivering the bikes from November.
The standout feature is its Hypershift paint finish. It uses a brass base, and the colour appears to shift between red, green and golden shades depending on the angle of light. The bike also gets a gold-plated "125 Years" crest, special anniversary side-panel badges and hand-painted pinstripes. The brown leather single seat has quilted stitching and the engine has a matte black finish. These changes set the edition apart from the regular Classic 650.
Despite the design changes, the engine and mechanical setup are unchanged. It has a 647.95cc parallel-twin, fuel-injected engine. The air and oil-cooled SOHC engine produces 46.3 hp at 7,250 rpm and 52.3 Nm of torque at 5,650 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is built on a steel tubular spine frame.
Suspension consists of a 43mm telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Front suspension travel is 120mm and rear travel is 90mm. The bike has a 19-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, dual-channel ABS, and disc brakes of 320mm and 300mm respectively.
The seat height is 800mm, ground clearance is 154mm and the wheelbase is 1,475mm. The motorcycle weighs 243 kg and has a 14.8-litre fuel tank. LED lighting and a USB Type-C charging port are also provided.
The ex-showroom price of the limited edition was Rs 4,25,589. That the Indian quota of just 125 bikes was exhausted within minutes shows how strong the demand for this special edition was.
