Royal Enfield's 125th anniversary Classic 650 Hypershift priced at Rs 4,25,589

Royal Enfield has launched a limited edition Classic 650 Hypershift to mark its 125th anniversary, with only 125 units available worldwide per major region.

Royal Enfield has brought out a limited edition of the Classic 650 in India to mark 125 years since the company began in 1901. Named Hypershift, the anniversary model costs Rs 4,25,589 ex-showroom. The maker has capped output at 125 units for each major market in the world, so the bike is likely to appeal to collectors and followers of the brand's history.

Bookings are already under way. Registrations opened at 2 pm on October 16, 2026, and stay open until October 28. Sales are scheduled from October 28, and buyers can expect delivery from November 2026. The on-road price will differ from city to city, depending on registration charges.

The main attraction is the paint. The Hypershift finish changes colour as light strikes it from different angles, moving between shades of red, green and gold, so the fuel tank looks different depending on where the viewer stands. The company says the idea comes from the brass-like look of its earliest motorcycles of 1901. The finish is applied to the fuel tank, the mudguards and the headlamp nacelle, while the black engine and exhaust stand out against it.

Other touches set it apart from the regular Classic 650. The tank carries hand-painted pinstripes and the Royal Enfield cannon decal, a gold crest marking 125 years sits on the side panels, and there is anniversary badging. The familiar teardrop tank and nacelle headlamp stay as they were. A brown leather single seat with quilted stitching adds a vintage feel and is meant to keep long rides comfortable.

Equipment includes an LED headlamp and tail lamp, a TFT display with Tripper navigation, a USB Type-C charging port, wire-spoke wheels and round mirrors.

Mechanically, nothing has changed. The motorcycle uses the same 647.95 cc, air and oil-cooled, four-stroke SOHC parallel-twin engine. Output is quoted at between 46.39 and 47 bhp (about 46.4 hp) at 7,250 rpm, with peak torque of 52.3 Nm at 5,650 rpm. A 6-speed gearbox and a slip and assist clutch handle the transmission.

The frame is a steel tubular spine, with 43 mm telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The wheels are 19 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear. Braking comes from a 320 mm front disc and a 300 mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS standard.

The motorcycle weighs 243 kg and has an 800 mm seat height and 154 mm of ground clearance. The fuel tank holds about 14.7 to 14.8 litres, and the top speed is around 157 km/h.
