Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have announced the first-phase measures under their Commercial Cooperation Framework Agreement, which was signed in January 2026.
From October 15, 2026, the two airlines will offer passengers more itinerary and flight options through their own booking channels. This covers 126 weekly flights between Singapore and eight Indian cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai.
Under the current rule, an eligible Air India codeshare flight booked through SIA must include an SIA flight, and an SIA flight booked through Air India must include an Air India flight. This condition will be removed from October 15, 2026. After that, an eligible flight operated by either airline between India and Singapore can be booked on a standalone basis through the other airline's website, mobile app and designated travel agencies.
According to the airlines, this will give passengers more flight options, an easier booking experience and greater flexibility in planning journeys. In April 2026, the two airlines expanded the mutual benefits for their members by widening the eligible booking categories and improving mileage earning rates in all cabins. Members of Maharaja Club and KrisFlyer can now earn miles on eligible flights of either airline in a larger number of fare classes.
From the second quarter of 2027, Maharaja Club and KrisFlyer members will get additional reciprocal benefits on eligible routes, over and above their existing Star Alliance privileges. Members of Maharaja Club Platinum and KrisFlyer PPS Club will get priority check-in and boarding, like the other top-tier members of both airlines. Members of Maharaja Club Silver and KrisFlyer Elite Silver will get benefits such as an extra baggage allowance and priority boarding on eligible routes.
Air India and SIA are working on several other measures for customers. These include better connectivity in flight schedules to cut layover and waiting times, special facilities for corporate customers, and additional steps to make travel easier and more comfortable.
Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Air India, said: "Strategic partnerships will play an important role in Air India's journey to becoming a world-class leading airline. The next phase of cooperation with Singapore Airlines reflects our shared commitment to keeping the customer at the centre. Our aim is to use the strengths of both airlines to give customers who travel between India and Singapore a more consistent experience, and to offer more choice, convenience and value. Travel demand between our countries is growing, and this partnership will help us make better use of that opportunity."
Lee Lik Hsin, Chief Commercial Officer of Singapore Airlines, said: "The first phase of our strategic commercial partnership with Air India is an important step towards giving customers more benefits and a seamless experience. Travel demand between Singapore and India is strong. This partnership will give customers more options and conveniences, and our frequent flyer members will get more mutual benefits and facilities. Customers can expect more such initiatives that will give them more choice and further strengthen connectivity between the two countries."
Air India and SIA currently have a large codeshare agreement covering 77 destinations in 27 countries and territories. Through their respective hubs in Delhi, Mumbai and Singapore, the two airlines connect customers to a large network spanning Asia, Europe, North America, Australia and beyond.
